About Dark Earth
It started on a FaceTime call.
A friend showed me the shoes she was about to buy, and without even thinking about it I said I know the perfect set for these. I googled it and found a chocolate brown set that was exactly what I meant. Except the second I saw it, I wanted it for myself too. So I went looking for the same colour cut for men, and there was nothing. Not close, not almost, nothing.
Even if there had been, it wouldn't have worked. Women's fit isn't built for my body, and men's had nothing in that colour to begin with. I wasn't going to get to wear something I actually wanted. So I stopped looking and decided to make it myself.
That's Dark Earth. 280 GSM French Terry, 80% cotton and 20% polyester, the same fabric top to bottom. An oversized boxy crop top with wide dropped shoulders and no chest shaping. Wide-leg pants with zero taper and a clean waistband, drawstring on the inside where it belongs. One size range, XS to 3XL, no gendered sizing splitting people into two columns that were never built for how bodies actually vary.
I didn't rush a first sample out the door. I waited for the fabric and the fit to hold up, wash after wash, before I let anything get a NOLEN label.
This is the first drop. It won't be the last, but it had to be right first.
